ANTHER
~bitter orange, cocoa, leather, ambergris, neroli~
2019 Reformulation
Anther, aptly named after the male parts of a flower, is a masculine fresh oriental created in the spring of 2015. At the time of development I was restoring the leather seats in an old Jaguar, and the combination of citrus oils and leather was both confusing and intriguing. I later challenged myself to recreate the effect, combining the soapy floral aspects of petitgrain with dusty cocoa, patchouli and leather. The result, is Anther. A complex, dusty oriental with a spicy freshness. Unknown to me, collaborator Aelfrik Spektor was working on a feminine orange blossom fragrance we later named ‘Sepal’, after the protective outer casing of a flower bud. Great minds!
